Hey everyone! My name is Kate Martinez. I graduated from Morristown East High School in 2020. When I graduated high school I was blessed to be a part of the Faith and Justice Scholars Program that helped me to continue my education at Carson Newman University and just graduated in December 2023. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Education to become a fully licensed teacher.
As for academics I am here to tell you that you don't have to figure everything out straight out of high school. I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason and trust that change can come, but all we can do is embrace it. I changed my major in my junior year of college (I was about to graduate in 2 semesters) and was completely
shocked to learn that my original plan to do physical therapy was not what I wanted to do. I tutored for an afterschool program and got to know many students and families that have since impacted my view on what I wanted to do as a career. In the second semester of my junior year, I decided that I wanted to be a teacher and be able to help students accomplish their academic and personal goals.
During my free time, some of my hobbies include spending time with friends, family, my dog (he's spoiled), and running (even though I'm not very good at it.)
I have had lots of mentors and teachers who have helped me on my educational journey as a first-generation Hispanic student, and I am very excited to take on this role to empower students to reach their goals and aspirations. Si se puede!"
