My name is Lydia Howard, and I grew up in Lawrenceville, GA. My college journey starts there, where I attended Georgia Gwinnett College for a year, and was a part of the performing arts. After graduating High School, I transferred my credits to East Tennessee State University, where I majored in Social Work with a minor in Global Health & Development. One of my favorite memories from my time at ETSU was assisting with the Project EARTH grant, where we focused on teaching students the issues that people in poverty face on a daily basis around the world.
Throughout my college journey, I volunteered for Branch House in Blountville, as I am passionate about the work they do in supporting survivors. I was honored to be able to work with Branch House as a Victim Advocate throughout my senior year; that invaluable experience inspired me to work towards becoming a therapist. After graduating from ETSU with my Bachelor of Social Work, I worked as a case manager in the field of addiction medicine. This gave me the field experience I felt was needed to pursue my Master’s of Social Work, which I hope to start in the Summer of 2025.
This is my first year as a NiswongerCARE advisor, and I am incredibly excited and honored to be working with the students at Sullivan East High School! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and I look forward to meeting with you!
