Hi! My name is Jacqueline (Jackie) Bauer, I recently moved to TN from Pennsylvania. I graduated from high school in 2017 where I was a part of the cheerleading and softball teams. In high school I was not an academically driven student, but I knew inside I had a passion for counseling. I then went on to attend Alvernia University (Reading, PA). It was here at my four-year university that I continued to cheer and was able to follow my passion for counseling. I excelled being one of the top students in my psychology cohort and found a love for mission and service.

For me a four-year university was the best option and choice but that is not the best option for everyone. I also knew that I wanted to be away from home but close enough that if I had to go home I could. My university ended up being a little over 2 hours from my house and it was perfect for me to be able to grow in my own independence.

Whether TCAT, community college, or a four-year university I believe that we all need to find what fits best for us and that in terms of post-secondary schooling one size does NOT fit all. So if I could give anyone advice it would be to go towards what is calling you. Go to the place that makes you feel like home. I know that this may sound redundant, but I believe in a feeling and when I walked onto my campus I just had "that" feeling and knew I was in the right place. With that being said wherever you end up do NOT give up and keep following your passion. It won't be easy but at the end of the day knowing that you accomplished it all on your own is the greatest satisfaction you will ever receive.

Since graduating from my undergraduate in May of 2021 I have moved away from my hometown to East Tennessee. I am currently a graduate student at ETSU working towards my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am going into my second year of working as a NiswongerCARE advisor. It may seem like everything you want to accomplish in life is currently out of reach, but I promise you (as someone who never thought they would move away from home or out of state for that matter) that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

When I have downtime, I love to binge watch anything that involves Gordon Ramsey or Law and Order…SVU being my favorite and I also enjoy facetiming or hanging out with my family. My favorite time of year is the end of summer and beginning of fall and I absolutely LOVE cupcakes, they are my weakness. I enjoy being a part of mission trips and have traveled to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Arizona, and other places around the country. I would really love to be more involved with travel and mission trips and hope that in the next year I am able to go on more.  I am also super driven and organized. I am also a very visual person, so I have to be able to physically see things.

I am really looking forward to meeting all of the students that I will be working with and helping them in every and any way that I can. Please feel free to reach out to me with all of your questions, I am so excited for this opportunity to be working with each and every one of you!
