Hey there, my name is Emily! I was born in the Texoma area, but my family moved to Newport when I was six years old. I graduated from Cocke County High School in 2015, and decided to attend Carson-Newman University. In 2019 I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and started my journey as a NiswongerCARE Advisor.
While at CNU I had different jobs, but being a missionary and an R.A. were my favorite! For three years I was a Resident Assistant at Alumni Residence Hall. Lucky for me, my dorm was right beside the Science building! I had so much fun programming events, decorating my hall and bulletin board, and creating relationships with my residents. My other favorite job was at a local poverty-relief ministry called “Appalachian Outreach”. I was a leader running a Kid’s Club for the youth in the Jefferson City area. I loved spending time with the kids in my community and creating a welcoming and fun environment for them to spend their summer at.
In my spare time I spend time with my friends and dabble in different hobbies. I’m a big reader, so I love to discover new books all the time. Whether it’s on my Kindle or a paperback, I love to jump into a world of adventure. I also love video games, and I’m a HUGE fan of anything Nintendo. My absolute favorite games on my Nintendo Switch are Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Minecraft. I also love anything that has to do with arts and crafts, and I express myself through that passion of mine.
As a 4th year NiswongerCARE College and Career Advisor, I look forward to meeting my new students and being a mentor to them this year. This role I have is very rewarding, and I love to watch my students learn and grow before they graduate high school and start their new adventures.
