I graduated from Cocke County High School in 2015, and went to Carson-Newman University. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology May 2019, and started working for the Niswonger Foundation in July 2019.
While in college I worked many jobs, but being an R.A. and missionary were by far my favorite jobs. I was a Resident Assistant in my residence hall for three years. I had so much fun programming events, decorating my hall and bulletin board, and creating relationships with my residents. For two summers, I worked at a local poverty-relief ministry called “Appalachian Outreach”. I was a leader running a Kid’s Club for the youth in the Jefferson City area. I loved spending time with the youth in my community, and creating a welcoming and fun environment for them to spend their summer at.
In my spare time, I love to spend time with my friends and dabble in different hobbies. I am always finding new shows/movies to watch, crafting, and spending time for myself. I love to branch out and watch foreign films and tv. I also love anything artsy, and express myself through that passion of mine.
As a NiswongerCARE College and Career Advisor, and I enjoy working with students from different schools. I love that I play a role in such an important time in a student’s high school career: deciding what to do post-secondary! Hi! My name is Emily Emerick, but my family calls me Em or Eme. It’s nice to meet you! I was born in the Texoma area, but my family moved to Newport when I was six years old. I basically grew up in East Tennessee, but I still have a Texan accent!
